Deacon David was ordained as Fr. David on Sunday 13th January 2019 at St. Mary & St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Centre in Birmingham through the laying of hands by His Grace Bishop Missael.
The joint service was attended by the congregations of St. Mary & Archangel Michael in Solihull and those of St. Mary & St. Abu-Sefein of the Coptic Centre.
His Grace said, “Fr. David’s prime service will be focused on the youth, as they are the future of the church.”
Fr. David will now retreat for his 40 days of fasting and preparation for the service.
We pray that the Lord may grant him the gift of the Holy Spirit and bless his service for many years.
This year’s annual Christmas celebration was a beautiful dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Primary School Children performed the play of the “Three Little Trees”.
Years 7-9 presented an impressive shadow sketch.
George Gabriel chanted for us the hymn “Eparthenos”
This was followed by a raffle.
There was also a presentation on some of the activities that took place this year during the Christmas season.
Of course, Santa came to visit too!
The evening was recorded and is available on DVD from Amir Eskander.
On Sunday 16th December, several families and youth gathered in Touchwood Shopping Centre, Solihull with the aim of greeting people with the message of the Nativity during the Christmas Season.
A small group of families represented our church on 16th December 2018 for the annual Birmingham City Mission gift wrapping. We were honoured to be part of this fantastic work for another year.
Dr. George Malek was ordained as Fr. Andrew at St. Mary & St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Centre in Birmingham through the laying of hands by His Grace Bishop Missael.
His Grace ordained Fr. Andrew to assist in serving the congregations in Birmingham.

We pray that the Lord may grant the new presbyter the gift of the Holy Spirit and bless his service for many years.

On 12-14th October the youth travelled to Northampton for a Weekend Retreat. The weekend focused on the apologetics theme of “Is there only one way?”
The talks were mostly youth-led and were very interactive, encouraging many questions and good discussions.
The group also enjoyed the team-building exercise of raft building, expertly led by the centre staff along with canoeing and comical indoor games involving watermelon!
“for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now” Philippians 1:5
From 4th-8th July 2018, our youth were on a trip to Italy.
They visited sites in Rome, the Vatican, Como and Milan.
They had a great time of fellowship and fun! Until next time.
